Maine Cat is a family run business that has been building high performance composite sailing and power catamarans since 1993.
In 2005 our new Maine Cat 41 was awarded “Boat of the Year” by a panel of judges from Cruising World Magazine. In 2018 Sail Magazine awarded our new MC 38 Best Cruising Multihull under 40′. Also in 2018 Cruising World made special note of our new MC 38 as one of three finalist in the multihull group for Boat of the Year. Our competition a 55′ and 67′ cat. Not quite apples for apples, but ours is affordable and you and sail it yourself without crew.
Our production facility is located on the Mid-Coast of Maine and we presently employee 12 very talented craftsmen. The majority of this crew has been with us for over 26 years. Their pride and dedication to excellence is evident in every phase of the production process. The quality of our glass work and mechanical installations has been noted by several surveyors as being performed to extremely high standards.
We build strong, well-engineered boats that are simple to maintain and fun to operate. We are proud to tell our prospective owners that in the past 26 years we have spent less than $19k on warranty claims. We do not use dealers to market our boats. We prefer to get to know each of our special owners and then build them a boat that specifically meets their requirements. It is amazing how much we have learned in the past 26 years from our experienced owners on ways to improve our products.
